Coffee Drinker or a Tea Drinker?

I don’t know the demographics of the voters, as G+ does not have that functionality, but looking at a few profiles, I can say most of them were youngsters (17 years to 30 something). You can also VOTE from here:

So let us see some facts about these hot drinks

Facts about Tea

Types: How many types of tea have you had? Multiple? But you know what, all these types come from same plant – Camellia sinensis. The flavors, aroma and all these features depend on the way the leaves are treated. Basically, there are 4 types of tea – Black Tea, Green Tea, White Tea and Oolong Tea.

But most of us don’t know that it is rich in Vitamins, such as B1, B2 and B6. It is also rich in mineral such as potassium, manganese, folic acid and calcium. But there is one catch – the lesser the tea leaves are processed, more it will have antioxidants. That is why Green Tea is considered healthier than Black Tea.

Now lets talk about Coffee

Discovery: Do you know how Coffee was discovered? According to legend, Ethiopian shepherds first realized the caffeinated effects of coffee when they noticed their goats started “dancing” after eating coffee berries.

What is it: Coffee is actually a fruit – it’s beans are actually Red Berries which are converted to Coffee Beans. Also, the caffeine in the coffee are crystals of the size which are too small for the naked eye.

Popular types: The most popular and the most expensive Coffee is Luwak. And do you know how is it produced? The Coffee beans are fed to mongoose and their feces are used to make this Coffee. Yuck! It costs somewhere around $160 per pound (some sources mentioned it is $600/pound).

So what if Tea is the 2nd most consumed drink. Coffee is the 2nd highest traded commodity in the world. And you know what is the 1st one? Oil.

Coffee Ban? According to a website, there have been total 5 attempts on banning Coffee. The first one being in 1511, Mecca. The reason for banning Coffee was it was believed that it stimulated ‘radical thinking’! For rest of the bans, go ahead and google.

I was a tea drinker during my teens. Then I realized my folly and became a convert during my engineering days. I can unabashedly admit that it was coffee, which helped me in clearing all my eight semesters. I’m never a morning guy and stay up late in nights. All the nocturnal animals, may be excepting Count Dracula, are a die hard coffee lovers. Count? He loves another drink. Hee hee

    • Hahha…’another drink’. It takes a lot of guts to admit that Coffee helped you clear all your semesters. Hehhhehe

  • Tea only. Have tried only coffee three or four times in life. Just made me want to drink more tea again! Can’t live without it.

    • Hahhaha…thats funny and strange!

That’s interesting. I love coffee, but when I want to have a cookie, I prefer tea to dunk the cookie in it.

    • Ya actually, tea is best for the dipped cookie!
